Hajia Safia Mohammed Declares Intention To Contest NPP National Women Organizer Position

GINA Newsroom can authoritatively report that the current deputy National Women Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Hajia Safia Mohammed, will ran for the ultimate position in 2026 when the party goes to elect its National Executives.

Sources closer to the former NPP Savannah Regional Women Organizer confirmed the intentions of Madam Safia, who has diligently served the party over the years.

This portal has learnt that the current national leader of the NPP Women’s wing, Madam Kate Gyamfuah, will not be vying for the position after holding it for two consecutive terms since 2018 when the then incumbent National Women Organizer, Madam Otiko Afisa Djaba, was appointed as the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection in 2017.

Meanwhile, following the abysmal performance of the NPP in the just-ended 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections, the party’s National Chairman, Stephen Ntim, has announced plans of the party to inaugurate a fact-finding committee to investigate the factors behind the party’s defeat.

Consequently, the party will also reorganize and strategize from the base to the national level ahead of the next general elections in 2028.

According to Mr. Ntim, revitalizing the party’s base will require significant effort to prepare for future electoral contests and also highlighted the importance of reviewing the NPP constitution, especially the processes for electing national executives and presidential candidate.
