NPP Communication Director proposes expansion of polling station, electoral area executive positions
The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Communication Director for Gushegu constituency in the Northern Region, Mr. Mohammed Imoro, has proposed the expansion of the party’s polling station executives to include more people as compared to the current five executives.
Similarly, Mr. Mohammed has has proposed that electoral area coordinators should at least have deputies and or organizers to effectively run party activities.
The Communication Director submitted these proposals among several others to the National Election Review Committee when they visited the constituency recently.
Speaking in an interview with GINA Newsroom, Mr. Mohammed Imoro added that Constituency IT officers should be made full flesh Constituency Executives with voting rights.
He emphasized that all constituency positions should be made contestable.
“In case of the specialised areas; i e. Research, IT, and Communications, as were listed by the former General Secretary would not be made contestable then their appointment should be formalised with clear terms and conditions.
“Research, IT, and Communications departments should be moved under one special unit with resources. The research department would furnish the Communications department with facts and data whilst the IT department provides the technical assistance for the Communications department to exploit social media, as it has become the order of the day. Social media has become the most effective information dissemination tool in this morden era and should be a target of every serious organisation, including political parties” he stated.
Highlighting on the electoral college of the NPP, the Director of Communication suggested that all polling station executives, electoral area coordinators and constituency executives should take part in the election of regional and national executives as in the case of presidential primaries.
