NPP Elections Review: Approach used by committee may not produce good findings – Musah Superior
Mr. Musah Iddrisu Superior, a stalwart of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has called for a review of the formula used by the 2024 Election Review Committee in the ongoing nationwide fact-finding exercise in the aftermath of last year’s general elections.
According to him, “There are concerns that the NPP Election Review Committee is doing a poor job. Many people disagree with the way they are going about the job. The survey target group seems to be officers, former officers, etc.”
The former Mayor of Tamale in a social media post also criticized how meetings between the committee members and party stakeholders are being held, asserting that the manner these meetings are being held may discourage people from speaking out.
He further alleged that in some instances, the entire session becomes chaotic with accusations and counter accusations.
“Reports from most constituencies clearly show that most of our grassroots party members are not happy with the Committee’s work. They feel alienated or disregarded. How is it possible that a competent investigative work can be achieved without engaging with the ordinary party people?” he queried.
“I fear that this whole work may end up producing a not good enough findings; and this may lead to craptastic recommendations in our desire to addressing the challenges that led to our 2024 debilitating defeat” he stated.
In view of this, the outspoken former General Secretary aspirant suggested that the formula used in the interviews, target group and sample size should be reviewed.
Meanwhile, the NPP constituted an Election Review Committee chaired by former Speaker of Parliament, Prof. Aaron Mike Oquaye to engage with relevant stakeholders for a comprehensive and inclusive review of the party’s performance in the 2024 parliamentary and presidential elections.
The exercise aims to gather diverse perspectives, address challenges encountered during the elections, and develop strategies to enhance the party’s growth and success in future elections.
